Great Lakes -
Tahquamenon Falls
The Tahquamenon
Falls are the second biggest waterfalls in Northern America after Niagara Falls
(that's what they say). A little you could get the impression, that after putting all
the effort into the Niagara Falls, there was nothing left for the rest. But this is
not about getting impressions but about getting impressed (oh, what a pun).
The Tahquamenon Falls are split in the Upper Falls and the Lower Falls. The
Upper Falls have only one, but high step, the Lower Falls have two lower steps
and some rapids.

Lower Falls
The Lower Falls are closer to the parking lot - this is why you go there first. And in case
you don't get further as up to the parking lot, the only impression you get is the
one on the first picture. If you are willing to walk the (not very exhausting because very
well paved) way will be rewarded with the impressions of the next pictures.

After a several hours lasting trip
in the car there is almost nothing more beautiful than to watch the light of
the late summer sun, reflected in the dark water, that incessantly runs down
the steps made of rock. The warmth of the sun on your skin, the taste and smell of the fresh
air and the murmur of the water make you realize with all your senses, that this
is a place where you could easily await that all problems of your everyday life
will disappear.

And as soon as you feel hungry,
you continue walking on these ways, that are, as usual in this country, at important
points of interest accessible to wheel chairs. A bit off these ways, you can
find places, where you, while watching the water, could even forget about hunger.

Upper Falls
The Upper Falls are quite a bit further away from the parking lot as the Lower Falls. Maybe
this is why there you meet less visitors. The visit is also more burdensome as there
are many stairs to climb. The murmur of the water partially turns to roar, but not
as strong that it becomes unpleasant.

And here I also forgot about
hunger ...
