Malaysia -
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)
It may seem unusual
to talk about an airport, but the international airport of Kuala Lumpur is
simply unusual. Already unusual is its location, about an one hour drive
away from that area of Kuala Lumpur, that could be considered as city zone.
But just as unusual is its large scale architecture, that I like very much. |

Ticket counters and customs
barrier are housed in a big common hall, that is covered by a tree-like roof. Something else,
that contributes to the very special atmosphere which can't be described here, is the conspicuous
low busyness at this airport.

The departure hall, where
you get by a small electric train (the so called Sky Train), is a little lower than the main
building but not less spectacular. In the middle of the building, there is a inner courtyard,
filled with tropical plants. A strange view, if you are not used to the situation that inside
it is colder than outside (the air conditioning systems seems to have big power reserves).
